Series: The Warren Family Holidays Book 1
Warnings: Language
Pages: 210

Book cover blurb:

Two hearts. One snowstorm. A second chance at love.

Penelope
Swirling snow may have stranded me at this tiny airport in the middle of nowhere on Christmas Eve, but it has nothing on the storm raging inside me when he walks into the terminal.

Artemis Warren.

My first love and the man who shattered my world.

I thought I locked my feelings for him safely away in the past, but one look is all it takes for me to drown in his icy blue eyes again.

So much time has passed.

I’m no longer that naïve teenager standing on a beach, wishing the boy would choose me.

Now, I’m hiding a secret that could unravel both our lives.

Artemis
The emergency landing in Nowheresville is more than an inconvenience.

It’s a disaster.

The annual family holiday party in NYC was my chance to make the statement I’ve been dreaming of for so long.

Now, all my best laid plans will have to wait until I can get out of here and back to civilization.

Nothing can salvage this day.

Yet seeing Penelope Barnes again turns this bad situation into the opportunity of a lifetime.

Reuniting with the only woman I’ve ever loved would be the ultimate Christmas gift.

But how can I heal the old wounds and or fit into the new life she created?

When temperatures drop and snowflakes fly, can love find a way to weather the storm for the ultimate Christmas miracle?

My Review:

Book rating on pink background with heart border: 4 stars for romance, 3 chilis for spice, 0 hatchets for violence and 4 thumbs up for rating.

Gwyn McNamee and Christy Anderson have created a delightful story that is perfect for when you have a couple of hours to spare and want a quick, not-too-heavy, book to read. I read it in two sittings, as I was engrossed in it enough that I didn’t want to put it down.

Thank you to the authors for my copy of this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Penelope and Artemis have old history, tangled up with misunderstandings and secrets. Their path to finding each other again is a bit messy, but you’ll be cheering for them to succeed.

The whole story takes place in a small airport in the middle of nowhere. Doesn’t sound too exciting, but somehow it just works.

Artemis sounded to me like he was going to be really arrogant & unlikeable when we first met him, but he turned out to really be quite sweet and thoughtful. He has the potential to be quite an annoying sort of character (at least that was my early impression) but the revealing of his character is handled really well and in such a way that I found myself softening towards him fairly quickly.

Penelope has had a hard time over the years since she last saw Artemis, but things are really on track for her now. She has set herself up with a good life & the job of her dreams. She has the opportunity to really go places. But a chance meeting with Artemis on Christmas eve has the potential to derail it all.

I appreciated how the conflict between these two characters is handled. It is believable and it had me sucked right in. They are both likeable characters too, so I was sympathetic to their situation. And as an added bonus, neither of them have annoying character traits like whining or overly repetitive jealousy! I find these sorts of things really put me off a character, and I loved that these two are just normal.

I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone looking for a light and easy read that will leave you smiling.
