Holly
The whole mess started with a fundraiser. You know, those date auctions?
It was for a good cause. I swear. But then Nate Fox won the date with me.
Nate who drives me insane.

He’s my brother’s best friend, and oh-so-inconveniently handsome as h*ll. He also spent some serious cash for that date. With me.

It’s a disaster in the making, and I’ll do whatever I must to avoid it. Small problem though. Nate’s insisting I make good on it. A date with him is bad enough. Even worse, I want him. Fiercely.

Nate
The moment I look up and see Holly Blake walk out on that stage, I’m determined to make my longest running fantasy come true.

I’ll have my second chance with Holly. Even if I have to pay for it. She’s smart, sassy, and so d*mn gorgeous.

Then, I find out she has a secret. A secret that only makes me want her even more.

*This is a full-length, standalone romance with a guaranteed HEA.

The backdrop for Burn For You is a small town in Alaska, which I really enjoyed. Holly and Nate have known each other forever. They grew up together, their friends and family are all intermingled and they see each other all the time. This all contributes to the difficulties that these two face when they start to consider moving from the friend zone, to something more. Neither of them want to make things awkward for either themselves or their friends, but then there is the inconvenient matter of the electricity zipping between the two of them that neither can ignore any longer.

Plus, there is Nate’s reputation. He is not known for his commitment skills. ‘King of Casual’, ‘Mr Casual’ and ‘casual is your middle name’ are just a few of the many comments others make to him (the word ‘casual’ gets a good workout in this book). So, Holly is a bit reluctant. She makes it very clear that she is looking for anything but casual, so she is understandably nervous to get involved with Nate. But then there are more of those pesky jolts of electricity between them, and I’m sure you can work out what happens next.

I really liked Holly’s character. She is strong, sassy and successful in her chosen career. She’s struggling with Nate’s reputation though, as she doesn’t want to just be another fling for him. As for Nate, he’s a bit of a sweetheart. He’s a little confused and not sure he knows the best way to proceed, but he knows he wants Holly and he’s a bit over hearing the word ‘casual’. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship. This is not a particularly long book, but the pacing is great. Nothing about it is rushed. And whereas I find some stories that are focussed on the confusion of the relationship can get a bit annoying, I didn’t find that with Burn for You at all.

I did notice one thing that I wasn’t a big fan of though. Are you like me and like to have a look at the front cover to see what they look like? If so, you might be a bit confused in this case, as I was. Nate is described as 6’4″ with ‘shabby brown curls’, but the male cover model is only a little taller than the woman (perhaps Holly is 6’2″ herself?) with what appears to be short hair. And he’s also got significant tattoos, but that is never mentioned in the book. Not the end of the world that Nate doesn’t really match the description, but I’m a big fan of book covers so it definitely caught my attention.

I found Burn For You to be a really easy read, and not being too long, I read it in only two sessions. And there are sparks flying left, right and centre between these two, so for those of you like plenty of spice in your romance, you will love Burn for You.
